College sports has 5 different divisions comprised of both men's and women's programs in all the divisions. I’ve outlined, by the numbers, how many men’s and women’s programs are in each division on the MatchPlay website. Divisions I-III are part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Fun fact: Theodore Roosevelt founded the NCAA. Note that Divisions I & II offer athletic scholarships and Division III does not. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has just over 200 programs in men's and women's soccer and is made up of 22 conferences. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) often referred to as Juco is the governing association of community college athletic programs.
